My best friend was moving back to Colombia. He called me and asked if we could meet up to reminisce about old times. I told him I was delighted, but that I was meeting up with my best friend, and that it was okay if I went with her. He told me it was fine; on the contrary, he liked the idea of making more friends. It was a sunny afternoon, and we decided to meet up. Sofía and I walked into a small café downtown. As she was taking off her coat, she saw a handsome man walk in. I told her, “Look, my friend has arrived.” She immediately smiled.
Daniel
happily hugged me tightly, and then I introduced him to Sofía.
She
extended her hand and couldn't help but smile a little embarrassedly; I
immediately understood that a certain affection had developed between them.
We
sat together and began reminiscing about old times. At one point, Daniel looked
at me and said, “I didn't know you had such a beautiful friend.”
Sofia
looked at me, smiled, and replied, "I didn't know you had such a handsome
friend either."
Later,
I made an excuse to leave the two of them alone so they could get to know each
other better, because I realized I was unnecessary.
The
next day, Sofía called me and said,
"Daniel
asked for my number and said he'd love to meet me," she recounted
excitedly.
He
also told me that she'd responded that she was delighted, as she'd felt a very
strong connection with him.
I
smiled and asked her when and where their next date would be.
Sofía
replied that they had agreed to meet on Saturday. "He invited me to dinner
this weekend," she said, excited.
Afterward,
I called Daniel, and he, equally excited, told me the same story.
And
so, what began as a casual encounter became the beginning of a lifelong love
story. Sometime later, they got married, and of course, I was the matron of
honor.
